A very diverse group of American tourists crosses the European continent led by British bus driver and tour guide Charlie. Goal of the bus holiday: to visit nine countries in eighteen days, from north to south. In every city one of the tourists experiences an adventure. The film is a satire on how many Americans spend their holidays in Europe: through jam-packed journeys in which tourists are led from one attraction, past another, to the umpteenth capital, without really being able to 'dwell on' all that beauty. .
