Wanda plot
Wanda is not strong-willed and can hardly handle life. She is not a good housewife and mother and therefore her husband wants to divorce her. If she also loses her job as a factory worker, her life is completely pointless. She is then tricked and humiliated by several men until she meets an occasional thief who is just as lonely as she is. He persuades her to commit a bank robbery.

Good film by Barbara Loden, her only film, in which she also plays the role of the eponymous title character.
The story is somewhat reminiscent of Bonnie and Clyde here and there. Wanda is well portrayed by Loden and is someone who has the necessary feminist traits. Yet Loden does not make the mistake of portraying Wanda as the perfect woman. She also has her negative qualities and makes some bad choices. Nevertheless, I did have a certain sympathy for her.
It is a special film, which clearly stands out above the average due to the natural acting of the cast and the special main character.

Reasonable film about a woman who doesn't get much out of life and gets involved with a criminal. A portrait about a rather nihilistic woman and therefore a bit on the boring side at times. Filmed in a documentary-like manner (no music and shown without any frills). Barbara Loden not only plays the title role but also wrote and directed the film.

A heartbreakingly beautiful film about a woman who says of herself: 'I'm no good'. She abandons her husband and children, is fired and then hangs on to a 'petty criminal' who treats her badly. They earn their living through thefts and minor robberies. Then you should indeed think of Bonny and Clyde, but it is about crime and fleeing the police. This is a completely different movie. This is about a woman who can hardly cope with life, about loneliness, failures, disappointment. Barbara Loden plays the woman with all the nuances. You can read everything that is going through her mind from her face. She is also directing this film. She should have gotten an Oscar. Also compelling images of the Pennsylvania landscape polluted by coal mining. The ending of the film is just as harrowing as the beginning. I give the maximum number of points. Such a shame that Barbara Loden didn't make any more films after this.
