"Gremlins chased you, Ghoulies terrified you, Now beg for your life..."
When young Billy's birthday is forgotten by his parents, he runs away from home. He gets lost in the forest and is haunted by phenomena that drive him towards an old house. A gruesome birthday present awaits him there. Meanwhile, a group of teenagers drive around looking for somewhere to party when they get close to the old house. They decide to go inside, and one by one they fall victim to an evil magician, who lures victims into the house through his dangerous descendants. He calls them the 'spookies'...

No, this wasn't it. 
Old-fashioned, made laughable, but of course the story doesn't amount to much. Especially the way in which it is presented, it really seems like a chaotic piece of different pieces in which creatures deal with different characters. There is no line at all. Those who like it can expect many hilarious moments and sensational to ridiculous creatures. At one point, Michael Jackson's Thriller music video seems very close, although attention has been paid to make-up. The creatures actually don't look like much. The characters are a complete joke and it doesn't matter who dies because there is no bond between them, and certainly not among the viewer. 3/10

The film shows fantastic monsters and very nice special effects. I can't really say much more positive about it.
Furthermore, the film only exudes stupidity. Stupidity that is justified with a lot of comic fuss. A single scene is indeed still funny in a grotesque way. Most of them are absolutely not.
Apart from a rough plot line, which says that a bunch of teenagers in an old house encounter all kinds of strange creatures, there is no story. The film has no structure and jumps from effect to effect and from event to event without pausing for breath. Advantage: time passes smoothly. Disadvantage: you have no guidance and no idea what you are looking at.
Terrible characters. Not a single character generates any interest. They are without substance and their behavior is annoying. The acting is of course rubbish.
Here and there, thanks to the nice creature design, the film has an atmospheric revival, which is quickly canceled out by the pile of nonsense that follows and which mercilessly washes away the revival.
A filmmaker can do anything under the guise of humor. That is what he must do above all. However, if you have little humorous, writing and directing talent, you will produce bad films. Spookies is such a movie.
