I was very disappointed with Please Don't Eat the Daisies. I thought it was a long and not particularly funny film. I didn't find many things funny, like the toddler in the playpen with his Cockey Cola exclamation. And there are several other things I didn't like. So, 2.0.

A disappointing film in which a teacher becomes a theater critic, which creates some problems. The story remains somewhat repetitive and therefore becomes monotonous. Furthermore, it's just a bit dull, which also applies to the characters. It never becomes funny, and the casting of Doris Day and David Niven doesn't really work out well either.

I remembered from a long time ago that I thought this was a really funny film. When I rewatched it a few years ago, I was rather disappointed with the humor—I ended up giving it three stars. Now I've seen it for the third time, and I'm giving it a full star. This film is simply very enjoyable, fast-paced, and well-acted, even by those mischievous children (which I too often find a drawback in such productions). The fact that Doris Day is allowed to perform her inevitable songs in a show prevents it from becoming a stale musical. Check out that dance during the title song: the girls still follow Day pretty well, but it seems as if the boys have been told, "Just do what you want." It's actually quite funny.

Niven had a great role. And Doris Day... well, I don't know of any of her films where she isn't charming. What fantastic timing and delivery she demonstrates here again. "Go ahead, honey, tell her what to do with her third act."
