Oh well, it all went well for me. Not only is Bernhardt a better actor here than Jean-Claude van Damme was in part 1, in terms of fighting techniques, they are also not much inferior to each other. What this film had compared to part 1 was more (often well-executed) action and better acting, but the script, on the other hand, was completely ridiculous.

Bloodsport may have a little more eternal value (and a better soundtrack and cinematography), Bloodsport 2 is a more than worthy low-budget martial arts flick.

Nice sequel, which is especially nice for the roles of Morita and that guy from Big Trouble in Little China. Bernhardt is not a replacement for Van Damme.

2.5*

Crazy… I'm definitely the only one who liked this movie better than the first. Apparently it is taboo to think Daniel Bernhardt is better than Jean-Claude van Damme. In any case, he acts (a lot) better, but secretly I also think he is a bit better as a martial artist. Daniel is faster and I think a bit more agile and therefore more pleasant to watch in my opinion. Nothing but good things about Van Damme.

Bloodsport 2 at least has something that resembles a plot. I liked the part in prison and that makes the run-up to the kumite work better. Pat Morita's role just barely makes any sense. In any case, he spoke much better English than I thought. James Hong, on the other hand, is a gifted teacher. In appearance that is, because with his withered arms he doesn't even make a dent in a pack of butter.

The tournament itself is cool! There are many participants from quite a few different cultures. Most fights look good. Some are really well done, like the one with the guy who knocks out his opponent with just a back flip. Even Daniel Bernhardt laughed. What is striking is that the speed is good. The whole tournament looks nice. It's a shame that Demon is based too much on Bolo Yeung's character. You can see it in the fighting style, but also the faint gaping of exactly those two one-liners he had. Too bad, because the film doesn't need this at all. In this way, the filmmaker only seems to want to admit that with this cast, it is figuratively impossible to compete with the actors from the first part. Ultimately, I think it's a full-fledged Bloodsport.
