I don't quite understand the uber-critical reactions, because you know what you're getting into when you put on a beach movie. It's not going to be a high-quality film drama, and if you expect it, you're naive. So I kind of knew what to expect and that's why I liked this movie to watch. Katja in her glory days, Georgina nice and clumsy, even that chubby sister and her friends are convincingly portrayed. Thin story and the rape storyline was not very realistic, but the Georgina line reminded me of Dirty Dancing (shy girl reveals herself and falls in love) and it was certainly not a punishment to watch the film.

Haha, I suddenly saw this one on Netflix, one that I've always wanted to see. I could grab it for my Dutch movie on Saturday morning. Nice that Break Outs and Kipling bag - it gives an idea that Nijenhuis somehow still had the spirit of the times, but otherwise a terrible thing. Not necessarily bad acting, especially annoying acting. Fake too, I actually didn't believe anyone. In addition, ugly filmed in kitschy colors without many ideas, meager soundtrack, atmosphere does not come across and story goes completely wrong in the second half. 0.5*.

costa...

When this movie came out, I was 17, a rocker and considered anything that leaned towards popular meanstream stuff as inferior. So I scrupulously avoided this film, full of soap stars.

But the duality of adolescence is strange: in 2001 I went on a sea-drinking holiday with my equally alternative friends to the then very popular Salou. The holiday resort where this film was shot in the same year. Several well-known locations come into view. So seeing this movie for the first time is kind of like childhood sentiment for me.

And the movie itself? Ah, Dirty Dancing meets West Side Story. Or something. The story is not crazy, nor is it fantastic. The acting varies. Still, the film continues nicely, there are beautiful dance scenes, a few nice sultry scenes, and a few good and also laughable action scenes. In addition, almost the entire film has the light-hearted character of a holiday in the sun at the time. And what more does this film pretend to be?

Nice to have seen, and makes you somewhat nostalgic for the days of Breath-Out magazines, bad Eurodance and going out without cell phones.

3*
