In 1971, PK Mahandia escaped his existence as a Dalit (unrecognizable) by moving to Delhi. He survives by selling portraits to tourists. This is how he meets the Swedish Lotta Von Shedvin, who perfectly matches the description of his future wife made at his birth. A romance develops, and Lotta promises to return a year later. When she fails to show up, PK decides to cycle the 9,500 km to Sweden to find his beloved. “Never let the truth get in the way of a good story” is the motto of this ultimate love story, where the emphasis lies primarily on the value of personal contact with people from unknown countries and cultures.
