The title is a funny pun and already indicates that the short film by Julia Aks and Steve Pinder should be viewed in that tone. Julia Aks plays the lead role herself and handled the editing. The film has a pleasant pace, relies (not too heavily) on humor, and, despite its 13-minute running time, does not feel rushed. The setting, costuming, and dialogue place the film in the year 1813 and make it a successful period piece.
As the main source of inspiration for the film, Aks names “Pride and Prejudice” by the British writer Jane Austen. The film strikes a balance between a tribute and a parody. Humor is present on all levels, from subtle to absurd, and sometimes a bit crude. The names of the characters are telling in that regard. The names Estrogenia Talbot, Vagianna Talbot, and Mr. Dickley speak a clear humorous language, it seems to me.
None other than Emma Thompson put money into the project but refused to appear in the credits as a producer because she contributed nothing to the film other than money. In the credits, she is listed as 'Executive Menstrual Advisor'. That fits the humorous tone the film adopts. Fun movie. Funny story, visually appealing, and well-acted.
