Beautiful visuals and a pleasant atmosphere, but otherwise mostly a disjointed film. Genuine tension is lacking, and the story unexpectedly takes a romantic turn halfway through, only to be interrupted by a bizarre Fallout-esque scene that doesn't fit the rest of the film at all. Ridley Scott seems to struggle to give the film direction, meaning it fails to make a real impression anywhere. The strong chemistry between Margaret Qualley and Jacob Elordi is ultimately the only thing that sticks.

This wasn't good... I wanted to walk out within 15 minutes because of the totally misplaced sponsorship of Sprite and Coca-Cola (and not just a little bit either) I couldn't even follow the whole story anymore because of that. probably paid a hefty chunk of the budget? There was no intermission in the film, but even if there had been, I think I would have gone home. This really felt like a chore for Disney from a darling contract or something, because why else would you make this movie? You forget the story immediately after it's over, and we've seen it dozens of times by now with virtually the same cast every time.

Man, that was such a letdown.
I consciously never watch trailers, but I had caught a few here and there during the pre-shows of other movies. Usually I look away, but this one managed to grab me. Unfortunately, when I watch the trailer afterwards, almost every action-packed moment was indeed included.
The film gets off to a very slow start, and apart from 2 "action" scenes, it remains slow for the entire film. Halfway through, it shifts more into a drama/love story, only to have the 2 action scenes play out immediately one after the other. The "action" doesn't really come into its own and is simply brought out very weakly. It is a typical case of "come on, as if this would happen in real life."

During the pursuit of the "Indians" to the house, they are nearly 20 meters away from him when he is at his plane, yet he still manages to run faster than they can ride their horses. Naturally, they then shoot at him, but miss every shot; even when they are literally 2 meters away from him (at the house), they choose to simply keep riding after him without shooting.
The runway is also too short, yet despite having 3 people in the plane (and with another 2 people hanging onto the plane for half the runway), they can still take off without any problem, even though there would still be a whole section of the runway left.
The same goes for the camp, where they storm in with 30 men, but instead of shooting them, he stabs them one by one with a knife, only to then fight with a handgun while holding a rifle.
In short, nothing makes sense, the whole thing doesn't hang together at all, and it really doesn't go anywhere. It's a shame that Ridley Scott made a film like this, when his other films are so much better.
I also totally don't understand the 100 million budget....where did that go then?
