I Was a Teenage Sex Pistol plot

In 2026, it will be exactly 50 years since the release of The Sex Pistols' debut single, *Anarchy in the UK*. Punk was born: deafeningly loud, brutal, dirty, and raw, and with their middle finger raised, the group caused a true shockwave in the UK, which was ravaged by crisis and unemployment. In this film, original bassist Glen Matlock tells the story, making it immediately clear what a major, often underestimated role he played in the band's success.

Although Glen Matlock was replaced by Sid Vicious as bassist of The Sex Pistols following a clash with John Lyden (instigated by manager Malcolm McLaren), he was the musical heart of the band. 50 years after the rise and fall of The Sex Pistols, Matlock tells the often-told story of this iconic rock band from his perspective. Manager Malcolm McLaren, in particular, marginalized Glen Matlock's role, who at least receives the credit he deserves here. It doesn't add much to earlier documentaries, including the masterful The Filth And The Fury. The additional commentary from Billy Idol, Gary Kemp, and members of Blondie, among others, are interesting additions.
