A little gem.
Visually truly otherworldly. In terms of the film, it reminds me a bit of Takahata's work (but slightly more impressionistic); in terms of the project itself, it is more like Redline (the type of film that really shouldn't exist financially). As a film and animation enthusiast, you can only be pleased with it.
But the soundtrack also does its part. The dubbing is high quality, and the fact that the film is primarily an explosion of atmosphere really charmed me. Hopefully, this isn't the last film Shinomiya makes, because he is a real talent as a director as well.
4.5* and an extensive review
