Hopeu (2026)

So, another great South Korean movie. This time with a decent budget, as evidenced by the special effects. The film has everything: plenty of action, mystery, horror, and the necessary humor. So, it is another typical genre bender that changes theme quite a bit throughout the film but remains perfectly watchable.

It's nice that a few Hollywood actors are in it, but otherwise the level is quite a bit higher than most recent Hollywood productions.

Strong science fiction action and horror mix. The story isn't particularly special, but the execution is very successful. The first half, in particular, is rock-solid. It remains mysterious and nerve-wrackingly suspenseful for a long time. Next, the film delivers massive action, with blood flowing freely. The CGI is quite good and delivers a number of great scenes. The unraveling of the mystery is a bit disappointing, and towards the end the action becomes somewhat monotonous, but that shouldn't spoil the fun. The open ending is a bit disappointing, but on the other hand... bring on part 2! 4.0

I was warned about it; it's a good movie until you see the first monster. That really is a terrible letdown, and I'm not the only one saying this!

The CGI is really very amateurish, no, just terribly ridiculous.

Had this not been the case, I would have given one more point...
