Lowland Kids plot

Howard (16) and Juliette (14) are the last teenagers left on the Isle de Jean Charles, a magical piece of land surrounded by water in the US state of Louisiana. But the only home they know is disappearing before their eyes. Oil and gas companies have carved navigation channels through their island, allowing saltwater to flood the land and poison the trees. Without trees, the island is completely exposed to increasingly powerful storms. When a hurricane destroys almost every house, most of the residents move away. Howard, Juliette, and their uncle are offered the opportunity to move to a new house. But a cheap new-build house in a sterile, new city can never be a home. Or can it?
