The Wright family's films are unique, because it's hard to imagine delivering this kind of smut with absolute passion. Halloween Hero, for example, was already a remarkable feat of incompetence five years ago, but Monster Tapes makes a good attempt at that level. Half the film consists of poorly coordinated AI-generated images. As soon as soldiers shooting at the supposed monster, it's completely unclear what's happening, except for the sheer number of trees, rocks, and people flying around. Cars suddenly drive through red moss, falling logs are the size of entire trees, and towards the end, a poorly conceived twist suddenly appears out of nowhere. The film's utter incompetence and complete lack of understanding of how to deliver a good story reaches literally bizarre proportions, but it creates an unintentional hilarity that saves Monster Tapes from the lowest possible rating.
