De A'dammer - De Man achter de Kast plot

The 'A'dammer' is a timeless and iconic piece of furniture, designed by Aldo van den Nieuwelaar (1944–2010). Inspired by the characteristic Amsterdam street bollards and the cabinets his parents sold as furniture salesmen, his design was a hit both domestically and internationally. Van den Nieuwelaar anticipated his success and secured a lucrative contract with the manufacturer Pastoe. This contract allowed him to make a living from his design – something he celebrated exuberantly with loved ones and friends. But his success proved short-lived. Ultimately, the manufacturer turned against him, marking the beginning of the end for Van den Nieuwelaar.
