A very cheap and simple slasher with some remarkably big names. How director Jean Pellerin managed to find Christopher Plummer and Margot Kidder is the film's most interesting mystery, because the content is utterly uninteresting. The acting is poor and the filming is incredibly ugly. Aside from the poor quality, Pellerin does very little to enhance the visuals of The Clown at Midnight. Only the opening promises an entertaining film, but what follows is so tired, serious, and predictable that it's of no use.
