Primavera (2025)

As a snapshot of the era, it is an enjoyable and fascinating film to watch. Not just that specific convent, but generally how people viewed the role of women back then. The women are actually treated quite well, but ultimately they are just commodities. You can ask some quite interesting ethical questions about this, what is worse: facing a terrible life right from the start but being officially free, or being married off and (by the standards of the time) having a pretty decent childhood?

The fictional drama is far less gripping, fails to deliver anything special, and left me fairly cold. Insolia's otherwise quite fine performance ensures that the film is still perfectly watchable. 3.0*.

Deeply satisfied and happy, I headed back home with my Woemi after seeing this beautiful film. But once home?

What romantic, implausible nonsense we have been watching; by the way, romantic? If only something would happen for a change. Now, entirely in accordance with the ideals of our heartless age, venturing out into the world alone is being propagated as the highest achievable goal.
