"The Boys Are Back"

Matt pressures Jay into participating in their most dangerous publicity stunt yet. It backfires spectacularly, and the aftermath inspires Jay to start his own business. Yeah, I decided to watch the series (Nirvanna: The Band: The Show) first before starting this one. So, as far as I'm concerned, this is truly brilliant; a kind of Jackass mixed with Flight of the Conchords-esque vibes.

Two guys, one of whom has never sung a single note and the other just tinkles a bit on the piano, consider themselves a band and want only one thing: to perform at "the Rivoli." That is all there is to it. In the series, it never works out. Never. Every plan fails, and what these two do is actually largely improvisation. They get themselves into ridiculous situations. Those around them react, and they play along.

This film took a year and a half to make, and you just can't believe that all of this is real? But yeah, it actually is, or at least they say themselves that nothing was staged. Yeah, I had a good laugh about it, anyway.

And then there are bound to be simple-minded people here who are going to shout "uhuh B-movie" and "bad camerawork," yes, if you try to make something this way, you run into limitations. But as far as I'm concerned, it turned out to be a really fun movie, made with a lot of laughter.
