In 1948, Mother Superior Teresa [Noomi Rapace] awaits Vatican approval to found her own mission. That dream is jeopardized when her intended successor [Sylvia Hoeks] tells her she is pregnant and asks Teresa for help. Mitevska reinforces Teresa's moral and spiritual dilemma with a deluge of religious symbolism and unusual camera angles (partly borrowed from Black Narcissus). Unnecessary, however, as Rapace and Hoeks deliver excellent work, and a pretentious visual style only distracts from it.
