Only one competitor will be declared the winner—and the sole survivor. Each competitor is given a series of warnings if they slow down or stop walking. If they mess up again, they’ll be shot.

I recently read the book. There's a sense of constant walking (at least 6.4 meters per hour). It created a tense sense of extremity, magic, and tension. I saw the trailer, and they were walking at a minimum of 4.8 meters per hour. That really takes away a lot of the psychological tension...

Well, I'll give it the benefit of the doubt, but I'm still a little apprehensive. Apparently, it was King's own recommendation to make it more physically realistic, but yeah...

I've seen the movie, save yourself the trouble of going to the cinema, the story makes no sense at all. When someone gets shot, everyone is in shock, two seconds later they're laughing and joking. This is the kind of thing that happens when you can't develop a story idea.

A striking thriller film from director Francis Lawrence, who undoubtedly delivers one of his best. The Long Walk benefits primarily from its concept and is effectively portrayed as if the world is constantly in motion. The young cast members perform exceptionally well (David Jonsson and Tut Nyuot are particularly impressive) and rarely give the impression of clinging to stereotypes. The murders are strikingly graphic and detailed, though Lawrence unfortunately makes little use of practical effects. At times, logic is lacking, and the characters of Charlie Plummer and Mark Hamill are insufficiently developed, but it is easily captivating and offers a successful blend of diverse emotions.
