"Every meal could be their last."
In 1943, a group of women are recruited by the SS to taste the food that is destined for Hitler. One of them is Rosa, who has fled Berlin. All are torn between the fear of death on the one hand and hunger on the other. With their lives constantly on the line, the women become divided over their loyalty to Hitler.

In November 1943, seven secretaries were recruited as food tasters for Adolf Hitler, who feared being poisoned due to the course of the war and his increasing paranoia. Based on a 2012 interview with the then 95-year-old Margot Wölk, the sole survivor of this hitherto unknown group. It also provides insight into the tensions and dilemmas young women struggled with in Germany during the late years of World War II. A fascinating and valuable addition to the canon of war stories.
