Kimi no Iro plot

High school student Totsuko has the ability to see the colors of emotions in people. To prevent her friends and family from having dark feelings, Totsuko sometimes lies to make things right again. In a bookstore in the corner of Nagasaki, she meets classmate Kimi, who radiates the most beautiful color of all. Although she doesn't play an instrument, Totsuko forms a bond with her and Rui, a silent music lover. While they practice in an old church on a remote island, the music brings them together and a beautiful friendship develops.

After a little dip, Yamada is back to better form.

It's all very light, reminded me in that respect of a film like Totoro, where there is also very little driving drama to be found. It is more about the three characters who help each other to get to know themselves a little better.

Visually very beautiful, soundtrack also cool (with a crazy, unexpected adaptation of Underworld - Born Slippy) and I found the atmosphere especially very pleasant. Not heavy, not overdone, but still often striking. Yamada is a nice director, hopefully she can pick up her pace a bit in the future.

4.0 and an extensive review
