The Night before Christmas plot
It's snowing and cold outside, but it's warm inside. Jerry squeezes past a mousetrap to crawl under a Christmas tree full of presents. Mistaking the sleeping Tom for a plush toy, Jerry wakes him up and a mad chase ensues.

The 2nd time Tom & Jerry were nominated for an Academy Award, and it was only the 3rd animation featuring the duo. And apparently the only time ever the duo lost to a Disney short. The nomination is well deserved, because after the previous films that were mainly cat and mouse, this short film already has the necessary charm. And we already see some of the recognizable humor when Tom goes after Jerry. It's more than just the mouse that causes the cat to be blamed for something. And as the title says, there is also some Christmas magic. In the Tom & Jerry way, then.
