A cliché Christmas movie is actually a pleonasm. That is no different here. There is certainly no shortage of corniness and predictability. All in all, a nice watch for the holidays without being anywhere above the genre average.

I read here that viewers were bothered by the racism. Well, quite a loaded term, I stick to xenophobia and the urge to maintain one's own traditional values, then you are simply less open to other things. But it is clear that it sometimes becomes painful. It surprises me and it only seems to me to be a cinematic fact that future parents-in-law have never seen or heard anything in advance from their future child-in-law. Do you immediately get an engagement, well...

They then try to be funny with miscommunication and painful situations. It's a shame that the painful overtakes the humor. The fight with Santa Claus was the low point. To finish, you also get the traditional breakup before things get back to normal, even with the in-laws. Well.

Christmas film where cultures (Norwegian vs. Indian) and traditions collide and where xenophobia is never far away… Set with a limited number of actors and taking place in a village in Norway. The attempts to make the cultural differences seem funny, even to the point of slapstick, were not successful and did not really make me laugh, especially because there was always a racist undertone… The Christmas atmosphere is somewhat suppressed and the humor is too forced. It is nice to see Norway in winter. Towards the end it all went a bit too fast, as if time and budget had run out and they still had to tell a whole story to be able to conclude. I found it all a bit irritating. I have seen Hallmarks that were of a better level than this one. Because it is based on real facts and there is a message in the story, I give this one just half, so 2.5 *.
