A wonderfully sinister tragicomedy. I always appreciate that Spanish humor, but there is a macabre undertone that may not be to everyone's taste. Some descriptions found on the internet create expectations that are not met. There is no gore or anything so no idea why the viewer would need a 'strong stomach'. You are better at it without any prior knowledge. In terms of plot development, it was sometimes reminiscent of Rope (Film, 1948). I'll just put that between spoiler tags because it might give away too much. The storytelling is surprisingly subdued, the script really good and the direction suggestive and efficient. A very good movie!

This pitch-black nightmare-like drama with comedic elements is a special case. Design and acting are first-class, but the pace is very slow and the plot is too sparse for a feature film. You are also constantly waiting for something that is not going to happen. The grim, almost hysterical ending makes up for it, but this would probably have worked better as a short film.

A unique horror film with a slow-moving story, featuring a heavy tragedy mixed with abundant dialogue and dark humor. With these kinds of films, a convincing cast is crucial. They all empathize with their roles and play them with gusto. The film's title might suggest a curse, but it's actually just an ugly, supposedly unbreakable piece of furniture that symbolizes the communication and relationship between Ruth and Jesus. Therefore, the film is more of a drama mixed with dark humor and a massive horror element that ensures the necessary tension for the rest of the film. As a viewer, you wait for what's to come, but little actually happens. The discomfort of both the viewer and the cast is undeniable. Only at the end of the film does a hysterical denouement occur that you don't see coming, which is further exacerbated by the very annoying girl next door who has been pressuring Jesus for some time with her imagined love affairs and advances on him. Also note the opening credits, which are styled like an IKEA-style manual. Very well done! 7/10
