The Pride of Pikeville plot

Ruth Hawkins and Walter Yates, who live in Pikeville, have an on-again, off-again relationship. Ruth has just broken up with Walter again, because he makes fun of her because of her singing voice. Ruth herself likes this one. She sees a photo in a magazine of Baron Bonamo, an internationally known womanizer who travels the world on his horse and makes a name for himself everywhere. To make Walter jealous, she writes herself a letter signed by Bonamo, stating that he is in love with her because of her singing voice.
