Good film about a detective investigating the murder of a real estate agent. A murder mystery with an entertaining, but ultimately unremarkable plot. The film also perhaps has too many side branches. A leisurely pace, a good cast with Benicio Del Toro in the lead. A solid directorial debut from Grant Singer.

Slow but atmospheric thriller with a strong leading role by Benicio Del Toro. The build-up takes too long and the finale is quite disappointing, but the hour and a half in the middle is well put together. The slowly suffocating atmosphere is well-hit and former music video director Grant Singer appears to be a talent to keep an eye on.

"Who did it?" That question is not answered. At least, it seems that way. But there are several loose ends in the film. As far as I'm concerned, that could have been more careful. Or Grant Singer has intentions with that...?
Although there is a scene with snakeskin (a snake molts every time to grow), the title is difficult to place. Snakes bite and are sometimes poisonous. Maybe take another look. The story is not simple.
Excellent acting. Del Toro excels.
All in all a fascinating thriller. Not the fastest, but you keep watching.
