The Rooster plot

Dan, the only police officer in a small town, feels responsible for the death of his childhood friend Steve and ends up in a self-destructive spiral. In search of answers, he retreats from his community and camps at the place where Steve died. There, Dan encounters an elderly hermit who claims to have been the last to see Steve alive. Dan tries to uncover the truth about his friend's death while facing some tough truths about himself. Meanwhile, an unlikely friendship develops between him and the old man.
