Tooi Tokoro plot

Aoi has left high school and gives birth to a baby boy with her husband Masaya. They live in Okinawa, the southern island of Japan where they were both born. To make ends meet, she starts working as a hostess in a nightclub. Masaya loses his job and cannot cope with family responsibilities. Their immaturity and dependency exacerbate the relationship and constant quarrels lead to social ruin. Aoi's bond with her son sets her on a path to find solutions.

Cold, relentless drama about a teenage mother who is cornered from all sides in a macho culture and inevitably ends up in a seemingly endless downward spiral. A film with an inky black story. The star role of the debuting Kotone Hanase is about the only bright spot.
