Geranien plot
Actress Nina travels to her hometown in Germany's Ruhr area for her grandmother's funeral and discovers that her childhood home has remained virtually unchanged. The canary is still chattering in the living room, her mother is still in the kitchen digging kilos of plums from the garden and her father still drinks the occasional whiskey as a digestif. But when the funeral date is postponed, tensions flare again between the pragmatic mother and her cosmopolitan daughter, who now lives in a major European city and despises the offer of a role in the German TV soap opera Traumschiff. And the kind old granny is no longer there to deal with such conflicts.
