A year later, the world of television was also turned upside down when CBS aired the two-hour "Star Wars Holiday Special" during the week of Thanksgiving. While some fans of the franchise know about this dark secret, this bizarre display still remains relatively unknown to the general public. In this documentary, the filmmakers reveal how and why the 'Holiday Special' was made.

A bit messy but often very funny documentary about the bizarre, two-hour Star Wars Holiday Special that was broadcast once on television in 1978 and then disappeared without a trace. The legendary bad special can only be seen on YouTube. The how and why are explained, accompanied by interviews with a large number of those involved. George Lucas is conspicuous by his absence, although he can be seen in archive footage. He reportedly made it a mission to track down and ritually burn every copy in existence. After seeing certain scenes I can't blame him. A hilarious but at the same time disturbing highlight is the scene in which Chewbacca's grandfather is watching some kind of virtual reality porn.
