1981, Tokyo. Hitomi, Rui and Ai are sisters and thieves. They steal a painting around the time Lupine III also steals a painting. Both works are from the series 'The Girl and the Flowers', by Michael Heinz. For the sisters, the paintings are clues to the whereabouts of their missing father. When they discover that Lupine is after the same painting, it sets them on fire.
