Manodrome plot
Ralphie is a taxi driver who pursues a body like that of a bodybuilder. He is taken into a libertarian male club after which he loses his grip on reality. His repressed desires are still hard to contain.

Unfortunately it failed. The film is not really empathetic, which means that you do not really understand why the main character does what he does and why. This film is a kind of modern version of Taxi Driver or Fight Club, except that it is not empathetic or recognizable or that there are still things to think about or philosophize about afterwards. In this the main character is quite crazy, but you do not understand his actions and in Taxi Driver you do understand. I also don't understand what his problem is with his girlfriend?! This doesn't really come across well in the film. A voice-over might have been better, although the main character is simply not interesting. I think Fight Club and Taxi Driver also deal with nihilistic thoughts and in this movie that's just not really the case. The main character is angry because his father left him when he was a small child. That has a great deal of merit.

Nice movie about a man who feels disrespected by society and the people around him. The movie starts well and the main character is well introduced. After that it gets a bit less and the change could have been better substantiated. Jesse Eisenberg is well cast.

I watched this one, and it was truly something special. The story was a bit hit and miss, as was the main character. Still, a few familiar names were included, and they did a great job.
I finished watching it but don't need to see it again.
