"Ralphie comes home."

The film is a late sequel to A Christmas Story (1983). A film that once passed my eye pleasantly years ago. Ralphie Parker is again the main character and has grown into a grown man with a family of his own. The role of Ralph is played by Peter Billingsley, just like years ago. In addition to Billingsley, many other familiar faces return. Like its predecessor, the film largely dispenses with sentiment and kitsch and offers fun situation comedy and is not averse to black humour.
The film is also satirical. The fiery buying behavior and the general craziness around the Christmas period is examined in a fun way. Naturally, the themes of family and upbringing are discussed. This is of course a Christmas movie! That is not a bad thing, because the theme is invariably accompanied by comedy. Fortunately, there is enough crazy family chaos to prevent the film from descending into imposed feel-good. The amount of added sugar is manageable.
A Christmas Story Christmas is a nice continuation of the 1983 film.
