My Childhood, My Country: 20 Years in Afghanistan plot
Mir Hussain grew up in rural Afghanistan, a country where wars and conflicts have alternated for decades. British documentary filmmaker Phil Grabsky and Afghan journalist Shoaib Sharifi meet Mir when he is 8 years old. As a boy he plays in the ruins of the war, which are a big playground for him. In 2002, after the attacks on the WTC towers, US troops arrive in Afghanistan, beginning a seemingly never-ending war in one of the world's poorest countries. Today Mir is a grown man with a family and a starting career as a cameraman. A story of poverty, destruction, desires and progress.
