Harry goes on a trek across the northwest with his fiancée Ruth. During the journey, supernatural forces seem to be at work in the forest that control Ruth. While Ruth imagines Harry's gruesome death, paranoia lurks around the corner and the couple suspect they are not alone.

Ruth [Maike Monroe] and Harry [Jake Lacy] are in Oregon to hike the Red Ridge Trail. A little guy [Loudon McCleery]'s warning about a mysterious 'red star' can't stop them. It goes without saying that the walking tour does not go according to plan. Berk and Olson manage to create a mysterious, exciting atmosphere, but after a strong opening, the scenario falls into predictability in the second half. Monroe and Lacy play each other's lovers, but there is no chemistry between the two protagonists.

Reasonable film, but it could have been more.
The film starts off nicely. We get to know the loving couple Harry and Ruth who go hiking together in a beautiful forest. We see that Ruth has some mental problems and that Harry tries to deal with them. But as soon as Ruth sees something in a cave, confidence in him completely disappears. Once the plot twist happened (which I didn't see coming) it became too predictable and I was left feeling hungry.
I thought the couple itself looked nice, but it wasn't completely convincing.
The atmosphere that was created during some scenes was palpable, mainly thanks to the good camera work and sound. There were also a few nice kills, but all in all it was too poor and they could have done a bit more with that alien.
2.5 stars.
