Good film about a boy who reads to an old, rich man every week. A well-constructed and fairly original story by Stephen KIng. It may not be really exciting, but a certain tension is present for almost the entire playing time. Well cast and the film seems to be heading for a big plot twist, and in that respect the end is quite refreshing.

Stephen King or not, this is just another short story made into a long boring teen movie. It's not the acting, and certainly not the ancient Sutherland, but the story doesn't captivate for a moment....boring as hell..

Pleasant film adaptation of a short story by Stephen King, which mainly benefits from a beautiful role by Donald Sutherland. The events unfold calmly and the film flows along nicely, although the plot becomes somewhat rudderless towards the end. Then you also notice that the story is actually very small; perhaps a little too small. Nevertheless atmospheric and compelling, beautifully portrayed and well played.
