Amigo Secreto plot
Democracy in Brazil was on the right track, especially when popular leftist politician Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva was elected president in 2002, a position he would hold until 2011. However, corruption allegations against him started to pile up and even though there was no hard evidence, in 2019 he was sentenced to prison. The far-right populist Jair Bolsonaro had meanwhile become the new president. The futility of this case soon became apparent when journalists from the newspapers The Intercept and El País Brasil discovered through leaked reports that a major anti-corruption operation was being misused by right-wing forces to discredit political opponents.

Anyone who wants to know why Jair Messias Bolsinaro and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva can/could drink each other's blood, either literally or figuratively, would do well to watch this documentary, even though it emphatically points the finger at Bolsinaro's supporters and portrays Lula as a mere victim of dirty political games. The title refers to the secret boyfriends with which the opponents of the left-wing Lula accused the former president (who was re-elected in 2022) of involvement in corruption at the state-owned company Petrobras. Too one-sided to convince.
