"Getting to the top means taking down the competition."
Honor is an ambitious high school girl with one goal: to go to Harvard. First, she'll have to get the coveted letter of recommendation from her school counselor, Mr. Calvin. Honor is willing to do whatever it takes to beat its three main competitors. Her plan to take them out starts to show trouble when she unexpectedly falls for her biggest competitor, a boy named Michael.

Honor Society is a high school dramedy richly filled with irony and sarcasm. Pretty nice and fresh. The film makes extensive use of breaking the fourth wall. The protagonist Honor Rose (Angourie Rice) plays a dirty game to guarantee her chances of being placed in a good university. She regularly steps out of a scene and then speaks directly to the viewer to inform him of the state of affairs. The viewer thus becomes a partner in the implementation of her unsavory plan to eliminate competition for a place at Harvard.
A fun lead role. Behind the venerable name Honor Rose hides a character who displays a large dose of unscrupulousness in a charming way. A smart girl who turns out to be a selfish bitch behind her perfect all-american-girl facade. Angourie Rice does that well. So she is the innocent sweet girl. The other moment a beckoning vamp. She manages to slide from one character to another very well. Of the entourage of characters around her, only Gaten Matarazzo, who plays the nerd, stands out. The rest is pleasantly present without leaving a significant impression.
Honor Society is an entertaining film that offers fast, brutal and black humorous scenes, especially in the first half. The second half is slower and more thoughtful. The feel-good is starting to play more on this. Still amusing, but just more reverting to the standard things that arouse emotion. Less fast, less surprising, less brutal. Still with a nice twist at the end.
