Kinderen van Zwarte Bevrijders: Half an American plot
Limburg was liberated in 1944 by the American armed forces, at that time still strictly segregated according to skin color. Black and white soldiers take part in the liberation celebrations. A number of children also emerged from these encounters. Cor and Wanda are born in the aftermath of the Second World War. Their youth is dominated by their unusual skin colour, a rarity in the southern Netherlands in the 1950s. Their mothers are silent. Thanks to new DNA techniques, they are able to discover their origin in the autumn of their lives. They travel to the United States to meet their new family for the first time.
