Selma, de Vrouw die Sobibor Overleefde plot
Selma Engel-Wijnber is the only Dutch woman who survived the horrors of the Sobibor extermination camp in Poland. That was not the intention of the Nazis at all. Sobibor was an extermination camp that no one was allowed to survive, so that after the war no one would ever be able to testify about the mass murder that was committed there. Filmmaker Esmeralda visited the now 87-year-old Selma in the United States. She went to live here in 1951, when after her return from Poland it turned out that she was no longer welcome in the Netherlands. Now that the end of her life is approaching, she wants to tell her story one more time to the Dutch public.
