The Bubble plot

"Where will you be when disaster strikes?"

A group of actors and actresses are trapped in a pandemic bubble at a hotel. There they try to make a sequel to an action movie about flying dinosaurs. What they don't seem to know, however, is that even in the worst of times, nature finds a way, and that creates problems.

Reasonable film in which a cast and crew form a bubble during the pandemic in order to film safely. A simple design and fragmentary structure. Of course many corona related jokes where there is enough to laugh about. Entertaining and some nice cameos. Like most Judd Apatow films, this one is too long. This one could easily have been a lot shorter.

Ah.

Kind of a strange project for someone like Judd Apatow. You wouldn't expect this film at all from him, especially after seeing his previous projects. Especially since The Bubble never really leaves the impression that it only comes from someone like Judd Apatow for a moment.

Normally you would expect some drama from him, but still an overwhelming sense of comedy. However, The Bubble is pure comedy, and mainly feels like a very long drawn-out sketch. A sketch that might have worked as a 5-minute video clip, but not as a 2-hour movie. It ends up being tiring.

I have to admit that I had to sit through the movie in several stages because I fell asleep twice. It's just a movie that doesn't stimulate your senses in the right way. It's mostly a repetition of jokes that love to be critical but are way too corny and stretched out to catch on. Fortunately, it does have a top cast that brings some miracles and the first 10 minutes were still corny.

For a pandemic movie, it's mostly repetitive. The story has some short highlights with a few cameos and striking action scenes, but all in all this is a big miss. Certainly Apatow himself can scratch himself over the head. Never been my favorite director within the profession, but with this film he can pick himself up again, because this is so far from his doing that you almost want to forget it voluntarily.

A very tiring sit around a film crew who must adhere to COVID guidelines while filming a sci-fi adventure. Of course, a lot of problems arise on the set and you can count the jokes or comic scenes on one hand. The latter is putting it mildly. Overall a terrible movie! 1/10
