Guys rather watch The Meg with Jason Statham, because this is a dragon of a movie and I won't get my 100min viewing back

This shark film, with an obvious ecological theme, about the mythical megalodon that is awakened by oil drilling off the coast of Mexico, isn't that bad at all. The build-up takes too long, there is far too much endless talking and the characters are not exactly fascinating, but the film still has its moments. The special effects are passable, the cast is reasonable and original visual finds have been incorporated into the film here and there. It is a pity that the title character is not depicted more prominently.

The Black Demon

He certainly wasn't that bad and I completely agree with you james_cameron.

Have seen much worse shark movies. In terms of story, this was something else. Had already seen YouTube videos that people from Mexico, among others, really believe that there are sharks swimming around. Glad they finally made a movie about it.

The CGI wasn't that bad either, although unfortunately we don't see him or her enough. And that is also my biggest point of criticism, the build-up takes too long and there are moments in the film that could be cut out.

Even though this Meg is a fabrication, there is of course a large core of truth in the ''message'' of the film (don't know if it was really intended as a message) Anyway, we are not careful with our planet and we have to really change.

2.5 stars.
