Seen this sequel almost day after day 2 years later on Netflix. I saw part 1 in October 2020 and this one in November 2022. I was a bit shocked by the fact that it has already been two years, because I still vividly remember the first part. Was pleasantly surprised by this Netflix production at the time and have to say that part two has not disappointed me again for a Netflix film. Atmospheric images of old London, mysteries, trace research with clues and, as in part I, again the film technique 'breaking the 4th wall'. Do like genre riddle film whodunnit… Part I was somewhat experimental, but must have convinced Netflix for some reason to make a sequel. And as far as I'm concerned there should be a part III. And the fact that a top actor like Henri Cavill wants to give it his face as the great Sherlock Holmes again after part I also says something. Not Ken Millie Bobby Brown aka Enola Holmes, but considering she played in Stranger Things she must have something to offer. May not be a typical Hollywood movie actress / fashion doll, but she performs above average here. On the movie itself, I like that they created a story about Sherlock's sister. Is something different than the hundred and one film adaptations of Sherlock Holmes himself. And since it is already part II, I do believe in the success formula. A lot of Hollywood movies don't reach this level. Is not Oscar level, but more than a weekday popcorn movie. Is a bit underestimated as it only appears on Netflix and not in the cinema. Do you like a good Sherlock, oops mean Enola Holmes then definitely watch. A film that deserves a chance and appreciation. Breaking down is easy, but look for an equivalent detective film in this genre in 2022. Worth a 4* for me…

Nice entertainment, funny approach.

Interesting to find out that there was actually a strike among the match girls at the end of the 19th century that played an important role in history in improving the rights of workers.

Funny to see that you can see that the protagonist has actually aged; in the first movie she was still young in real life too; the development of hair from girl to woman also comes across as more convincing.

Other than that, it's just light-hearted entertainment, and I personally thought the role of her brother was a bit big for a film that bears her name, but that doesn't make the film itself any less, maybe even on the contrary.

3*

A smooth, but somewhat unbalanced whole. Enola Holmes is deliberately chaotic, but sometimes a bit too much. Brown is a fun, young actress who has long shown in Stranger Things that we should take her acting qualities seriously, but as Enola she sometimes goes a bit off track. The clever humor is often quite funny, but sometimes misses the mark. And so I think this sequel is an entertaining, but somewhat hit and miss film.
