What is this?! An indictment that professing faith together in churches was no longer possible due to a virus and that devotion to religion therefore dropped to zero, which caused communism to emerge? Because there is no reason for the starting point. What I just described could be elaborated very nicely.
But no. The Christian makers take on a victim role. To win souls? Who knows, can say so. The totalitarian government imposes its will on everyone and actively hunts down believers, but the motivations of this regime also remain unexplained. So, sorry for the mega spoiler, but don't look for logic. You'll definitely come home from a cold fair.
Anyone who wants to defend this smear of vomit smeared on digital video could argue that such a dictatorial, Orwellian government also suppresses opulence and that is why all sets and locations look so bleak. But that is the same as staring blindly at an excuse to hide the fact that the budget was equal to the amount of imagination that the Wesely brothers had at their disposal. Zero point zero, just to put aside all the cryptic parts of this analysis.
I can't speak for people who share the writer/director/lead actor's beliefs. As an atheist/agnostic it is impossible for me to sympathize with any part of this project. The script, the acting, the performance, the locations, everything is completely ridiculous and brings tears of laughter or annoyance. The incompetence of these aspiring filmmakers stands head and shoulders above everything else, mainly because I have no idea what their message is. Let alone who they want to address it to.
