No Crossover: The Trial of Allen Iverson plot
On Valentine's Day 1993, 17-year-old basketball player Allen Iverson, of Bethel High School, was bowling with five school friends. It was supposed to be an ordinary night, but it turned out to be one that would define Iverson's young life. An altercation soon turned into a fight between Iverson's young black friends and a group of white clients. The aftermath of the fight and treatment at the ensuing trial sent the teen — some say the best high school athlete in the country — jailed and divided the city along racial lines. Filmmaker Steve James returns to his hometown of Hampton, where he once played basketball, for a personal look at the still-disputed incident. He investigates the consequence on Iverson and the community.
