What a cunt movie!

In terms of storyline nothing new and boring. I also found the "violence" of the film quite disappointing. I expected him to be much more brutal. Some actions just didn't show up. I always regret that. I immediately start thinking: Do they not have the technology in-house to visualize it properly or ....? Also, I didn't think all the fight scenes were well executed. We all know it's not real, but it's sad that it's visible.

As for the behavior of the men (the animal behavior and the grunting) it probably belongs from that time. I started to get upset about this at some point, nothing for me.

It was a long sit in the cinema.

Personally, I found the Vikings and Vikings Valhalla series better and more enjoyable to watch.

To be honest, I found it very boring and, as others have written, disappointing.

It all takes a very long time and there is little to see of real massive action.

Movies/series such as Viking or Vikings are much better.

Glad I didn't go to the Bios for this!

A meager 2 stars is actually too much of a good thing.

Fjölnir [Claes Bang] kills his brother King Aurvandil [Ethan Hawke] but miraculously (and unbelievably) Aurvandil's son Amleth [Alexander Skarsgård] manages to escape by rowing sea. Years later, Amleth, now an adult, is intent on revenge and is stunned to discover that his mother [Nicole Kidman] is now Fjölnir's wife. A lot of testosterone in this variation on Hamlet, but with dialogues that often fall under the category of 'so bad they're fun'. The actors take it all way too seriously, making this destined to become a cult classic, but for all the wrong reasons. Eggers inadvertently increases the hilarity by making the men shout and swear a lot. Eggers takes the focus on 10th century Viking culture seriously, but that authenticity heightens the festivity rather than the tension. Unintentionally funny and completely ridiculous.
