Good hostage drama with strong acting by John Boyega. He really comes across as a man with behavioral problems who wants his money back and wants to see his daughter.

He is calm, comes across as sympathetic but can also get angry quickly and leave the viewer afraid that he is really killing himself and the rest.

RIP Michael K Williams known to many as Omar Little in the Wire. He plays a negotiator who has to talk Boyega's character down. what a shame he's gone. Excellent actor who got too little chance after The Wire. The final part of the film could have been much better but definitely worth watching.

Brian Brown-Easley [John Boyega], a friendly and cultured man at first glance, takes a bank manager [Nicole Beharie] and a cashier [Selenix Leyva] hostage. Brian turns out to have an unusual motive for this crime and as time goes by his despair grows, putting both his own life and those of his hostages in danger. You could describe this as a mix of John Q and Falling Down with a pinch of The China Syndrome (a comparison with Dog Day Afternoon is misplaced), but it is a reconstruction of a true incident. The excellent playing of the three protagonists makes this a serious Oscar candidate. Michael Kenneth Williams also impresses as the negotiator who tries to do his job as well as possible under great pressure. Compelling and extraordinarily exciting, with an intriguing denouement as ambiguous as the title of the article it is based on.

Meticulous reconstruction of a bank employee kidnapping by an Iraq veteran seeking reparation for what was done to him by the Department of Veterans Affairs. An emotional rollercoaster with an excellent portrayal of John Boyega as the hurt ex-marine. The last film of Michael Kenneth Williams (the negotiator).

The last movie of Michael Kenneth Williams. The actor died on September 6, 2021 at the age of 54 from a drug overdose.

Without any character development, you as a viewer are thrown directly into the plot. It lacks excitement and thrills to keep you interested. The film mainly focuses on the dramatic scenes. John Boyega convincingly portrays the role of Brian Brown-Easley, and the rest of the cast also comes across as believable. This could have been a better movie. Despite these critical comments, the film still manages to score a sufficient score.
