Magda, who long ago gave up her career for the sake of her family, lives in Podkowa Leśna, near Warsaw. One evening she accidentally discovers the body of a murdered woman in the park. She has a W-shaped necklace around her neck, identical to that of her long-lost friend, Weronika. Although the official investigation is led by Commissioner Jacek Sikora, a former friend of Magda's who was in love with her, Magda, a compulsive reader of crime fiction, decides to investigate herself.
