All My Friends Hate Me plot

Pete returns from a stay abroad where he worked with refugees. Trying to put his youthful excesses behind him, he now simply wants to live a normal life with his girlfriend, the down-to-earth and socially conscious Sonia. Pete's old college buddies are thrilled with his return and invite him and his girlfriend for a weekend getaway to celebrate his birthday. During the party, however, his head starts spinning when his friends slowly turn on him one by one. He can't figure it out: did he do something wrong? Is this a punishment or is he paranoid? Could it be a sick joke?

Nice cringe comedy with a black edge.

Actually, the horror designation is not really applicable, but I do understand it. Director Gaynord directs the film as if it were a horror film, which gives the humor an extra dimension. Anyway, I was ready for a comedy that was a bit sharper.

Also read that Stourton based his character on himself, which is quite brave, since Pete is clearly very upset about this. He's not a bad guy per se, but so easy to get annoyed with, which only adds to the comedic nature.

Furthermore, a fine design across the entire width. Visually nice, clever use of music and soundtrack, actors also do a good job and the ending delivers what you hope for. The film may not really stand out, but otherwise a great comedy.

4.0* and a detailed review

Pete [Tom Stourton] invites some friends to a remote villa for a party and hopes to propose to Sonia [Charly Clive]. Although he is delayed during his journey, it turns out that no one is there yet and from that moment on Pete already gets the feeling that his friends really don't like him at all. Does he really have reasons to believe that or is his distrust the result of the same psychological complaints for which he has to take medication? While multiple sources call this a horror comedy, there's little to laugh at and only a few unpleasant dreams could cite the most sensitive among us as a justification for the label 'horror'. The actors do a good job, but the screenplay (to which protagonist Stourton makes a major contribution) limps on too many thoughts, making it insufficiently effective as a whole.

Mediocre film about a man who sees his university friends again after years. A better introduction was desirable. But you keep looking, because you keep wondering where the whole thing is going. In that respect, the ending is also a bit disappointing. The social awkwardness is the best thing about this somewhat peculiar film.
